Mubarak calls on serious Lebanese dialogue

date: 24 02, 2005

Sharm el Shaikh, Feb 23 ( BNA ) President Muhammed Hosni Mubarak of Egypt called Wednesday upon Lebanese to avoid split and initialize a serious and transparent dialogue among themselves before blaming Syria.
This came in a press conference by President Hosni Mubarak following the inauguration of construction works to develop Sharm el- Shaikh Airport and a tour in the International Aviation Exhibition.
Answering a question on the pressure Syria is facing after the assassination of the former Prime Minister Rafiq Harriri, he said he had talked to President Bashar Al- Assad on the need to take action, pointing out that he sent a special convoy to explain the situation.
Mubarka said the situation has changed and Syria will no longer be able to oppose the pressure of the international community, stressing the necessity of reaching solutions.
Mubarak urged the Lebanese people to agree on issues they need to address Syria about as the opposition takes a different stance of the people which will lead to disunity among the Lebanese people.
