Jerusalem, April 20 (BNA) Israeli police have arrested the country's consul general to The Hague on suspicion of accepting bribes, a senior police official said Wednesday morning.
Uriel Yitzhaki was taken into custody Tuesday night as he stepped off a plane at Ben-Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv.
The arrest capped an investigation into charges that Yitzhaki accepted money and other benefits in exchange for issuing Israeli passports to people who were ineligible for them.
Yitzhaki is accused of issuing 150 passports and pocketing tens of thousands of dollars in return, as well as other perks, such as staysin luxury hotels.
