Bishkek/Moscow,August.14 (BNA) The new president of Kyrgyzstan, Kurmanbek Bakiyev, officially took office today five weeks after winning in the country's elections.
Bakiyev took the oath of office in front of 10,000 people in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek.
The former opposition politician assumed power as acting leader in March in the Central Asian country after a peaceful resolution ousted the autocratic Askar Akayev.
He was confirmed as president on July 10 with 88.6 per cent of the vote.
