Riyadh, April 28, (BNA) Saudi "Al Riyadh" daily said that Saudi Arabia and Egypt will take part in the International Quartet Committee's meeting, called for by UN Secretary General, Kofi Anan, to discuss the developments in the Palestinian Israeli conflict in light of Hamas victory in the legislative elections and its formation of the government.
The newspaper added that Saudi Foreign Affairs Minister, Prince Saud Al Faisal, and his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Abulgeet will represent their countries in the meeting, due at UN Headquarters on May 9.
The meeting's discussions will evaluate Hamas' response to the Quartet Committee's demands to renounce violence, recognise the right of Israel to exist and be committed to all previous agreements between Palestine and Israel.
The meeting will also discuss ways of alleviating the suffering of Palestinian people whose substandard living conditions are getting worse as confrontation intensifies between Hamas on the one hand and Israel and the US on the other, Al Riyadh added.
