Southern Governorate Governor holds press conference

Manama, Sept. 2 (bna) -- The Governor of the Southern Governorate and the President of the General Organization for the Protection of Marine Resources, Environment and Wildlife Shaikh Abdulla Bin Hamad Al Khalifa has announced that the Southern Governorate shall carry out a comprehensive survey into a number of development, housing and leisure projects, in line with the needs of the citizens in all the areas of the governorate.
Shaikh Abdulla affirmed, during a press conference today, that the southern Governorate has begun a number of projects, in coordination and cooperation with ministries and government bodies.
He pointed out that the Housing project in the Lebanon area in East Riffa is currently under way, and the Ministry of works and Housing is constructing 30 housing units, as part of the first phase.
The Governor also affirmed the endeavors of the governorate to meet the leisure needs of the residents, and public gardens through a study to build a large park in the Hunain-iya valley over an area of 240 thousand square meters.
The Project will include a number of Sports and leisure facilities. He said that the governorate is cooperating with the General Organization for Youth and Sports to build public squares, in different areas of the governorate.
Shaikh Abdulla stated, that the governorate is carrying out a comprehensive survey of the infrastructure in all the areas. A task force is currently studying and evaluating the infrastructure utilities, and preparing illustrated reports, and will forward the urgent cases to the concerned bodies for remedy, in line with coordination with various government and private directorates.
Shaikh Abdulla said the governorate has allocated 250 thousand square meters for a experimental ranch for breeding livestock, and providing all the necessary facilities to move all livestock pens from the different locations of the governorate, and move them to this ranch. Shaikh Abdulla stressed on the importance of the role of the Private sector in participating in such development projects to provide basic services to the citizens, pointing to the support and efforts of the state ministries and bodies in implementing these projects.
