UAE calls for effective measures to control small

New York, July. 4 (BNA) The United Arab Emirates has called enhancing the effectiveness of arms embargo regimes in areas of civil and ethnic conflicts.

In a statement by its permanent representative to the UN before a conference to review progress made in the implementation of the programme of action to prevent, combat, and eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in all its Aspect, the UAE suggested that steps to disarm, demobilise and reintegrate former and present combatants be taken in order to find them alternative job opportunities. The UAE further demanded that regional and international strategies ought to be enforced to control operations of small arms and light weapons.
